Thanks for all the input. I'm not looking for a tax dodge but rather just an accurate estimate of purchase/ownership costs. I got in touch with an accountant who confirmed the situation is the same as Chuck described. Fortunately both NC and SC have relatively low property tax rates and sales tax caps for airplanes.
