If a private pilot wanted to fly Alberto's plane from NJ to Texas and pay him $1 rent. I think after this "legal" transaction took place Alberto would be so happy he could gift a certain amount of money to this person. Just my .02
From a rules view, the FAA ain't gonna buy it and they'd bust him on intent. At least that's what Eichenberger and Yodice have taught us over the years. I think the only *legal* option is to hire a commercial pilot to ferry it for him. Period, end.
As others have said, it's not the only way to do it, it's just the only way to do it without running afoul of the FAR's.
