...And shipping would be quoted in Euros, too, making it even more expensive.
Paul, strangely enough current foreign currency (almost rhymes) fluctuations have favored the dollar. So much so, in fact, that I learned of a guy in the States arranging for the purchase of a nearly new Cirrus Perspective here in the UK for export to America. Sadly, in his case, the aircraft was destroyed in a crash the day before it was to be flown to its new owner.
Actually, right now the dollar/pound exchange rate has been the best it's been since I arrived here a little over two years ago. Back then it cost $2 to buy 1 GBP. Today you can buy a pound for $1.45.
The erosion of the pound has had me doing little happy dances for weeks. Avgas used to cost me $10.77 a gallon (actually a little over $12 but avgas prices were higher then). The price recently at my home aerodrome is $7.77.
Everything else is cheaper now too. Landing fees - cheapest used to be $10 every time your wheels touched the runway. Now a mere $7.25. Practice ILS at a nearby facility was 25 GBP ($50). Now a paltrey $36.25 (it is still 25 GBP per approach). But I am wandering off topic.
