Time for an update.

The import mechanic that was referred to me has been both good and bad.

It's been bad from the perspective that he's going through a tough time with respect to some family issues...not a lot of time to dedicate to working.

The good part is that I've met many of his customers, and they absolutely love him. They tell me he's like an artist...he's a little flighty (ha!) so you have to keep on him...but when he works, he's awesome, and extremely competent when it comes to safety.

So...although I'm pretty busy, I've tried to make one day available each week when I tell him I'm going to be at his shop...and sure enough, on those days, we're working on my airplane.

He says we're a week away from test flight.

We've got new carpet in, new prop on, frayed cables (yikes) replaced, home-made throttle linkage replaced, and lots of other little stuff. I've very much enjoyed working WITH him as I've got to know the airplane inside and out.

The Transport Canada inspector and the mechanic go way back. The inspector has a great deal of confidence in the mechanic's craft (as many others seem to)...he's taken care of the "snags" with the mechanic's inspection...and the work that's already been done.
