He purchased the airplane new from Cessna finance in 1978, it now has about 300 hours total time. It has been kept in his hangar it's entire life, and well cared for, equipped for IFR with Narco avionics. [ Linked Image] Lea works for Chevy racing, and doesn't have much time to fly these days, the airplane is located in the Los Angeles area. He is not sure what it is worth, but was offered $39K a few years ago, so thinks it is probably worth something in that range. As you can tell, he is not agressively trying to sell it. He doesn't use the internet much, so if you are interested in this airplane, call him 562-699-8698. Not a steal by any means, but could be an ideal airplane for the person who doesn't mind paying a little extra for a very clean and unmolested airplane. | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 499 Likes: 1 Member/250+posts | Member/250+posts Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 499 Likes: 1 | Very nice. It's getting tough to find them that clean anymore. I sure hope there are people out there that see the value in a plane that nice.
There are those that fly and those that wish they could.

It does look clean but I have always been leery about such low time machines. You never know unless you go look though. 39K seems a bit much even though it does have such low time.
I doubt I'd pay more than 30 for it even If it is clean. There are things that even after hangared for 30 years will have to be replaced. An inactive airplane is not a "happy" airplane.
I looked at a few low time Cessna's and Pipers a few years back in New England that had been "hangared" for extended periods. I walked away from every one. Things like Seats, headliners, anything rubber, or which required frequent lubrication needed a LOT of attention. Too much expense to get them to where I thought they would need to be. Owners of these machines are reluctant to talk down price due to this I found. I figured after that experience it was better to find a plane which was flown regularly with more hours on it. You become the judge of whether or not it was abused or not.
I always think its sad when I see these kinds of aircraft.

This could be a grand slam for someone if there's no issues with the plane.
I'd love to see more detailed pictures of interior, engine compartment, panel etc. just to have a glimpse of living history.
Even better, I'd love to spend a couple hours doing a walk around just to enjoy being in the same hanger with this pearl.

This 152 featured, may be right along those same lines. > Here < it is, right after the avionics upgrade.

I always think its sad when I see these kinds of aircraft. I agree, Jim. Yes, this is a very pretty airplane. And a very sad story! Unfortunately this poor little airplane has sat in a hanger 262,500 hours of it's 262,800 hours of existence. (Did I do the math right?) Here is a beautiful machine that was designed to give the joy of flight, but is anguishing in some dark, lonely hanger. Hopefully the person that buys this airplane takes it out and allows it to experience the freedoms of the open skies of which it yearns rather then just tucks it away once again in some other dark lonely hanger to anguish alone. Yearning for the glory of flight in which it was designed. | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 13,969 Member/10,000+ posts! | Member/10,000+ posts! Listen closely..........Listen........Do you hear that wee faint voice? Please? Please take me flying? Please allow me to feel the wind under my wings? Please allow the sun to shine on me as I embrace the freedom of flight of which I was built.................ppppppppppppppllllllllleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Do you hear it, Jim?
