I've seen it in person and had the pleasure of flying in caravan with it. Shelby's work is top-notch. Maybe someone on the east coast will buy it this time, make the trek again. So what's the plan Sean, have your eye on a 150/150?

I have a passion for the outdoors and would like to build a bush variant of a 182. BTW, I am asking a little less than what I paid for her. The gentleman I purchased her from put over $60k into the restoration. | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 3,640 Likes: 49 Member/2500+posts | Member/2500+posts Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 3,640 Likes: 49 | 60,000$ hmmmm I know my bird doesn't look that nice....but..... 60,000$ equates to about 14,000 gallons of Avgas @4.25/gal. Thats a LOT of flying time

Thats a LOT of flying time I've got about that into mine. A lot of money, but at least now I am reasonably sure my airplane won't fall out of the sky, and that's worth a lot, as well. As long as I keep the plane and fly it, it will be money well spent. Since I had read so much about the N2673J when it was being restored at Shelby's, I was hoping to get a chance to take a look at it when you flew up through California, particularly when you made your Saturday stop at Hollister (would have been a perfect day for me to meet you there), but you were gone in a flash, and I never got a chance to see the bird. Good luck in selling it. It will be interesting to see how much you can get versus how much you put in... | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 2,627 Member/2500+posts | Member/2500+posts Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 2,627 | You know, if I was moving to a 150 from my present bird, this would be a very very attractive deal for me. Everything is just about as perfect as it will ever be on this plane. All one need do is fly it and enjoy the stares on the ramp from the rest of us!

The "newer" ones just aren't as good as the older ones or the 260SE for that.
Or heck, get a 180 or a 180hp 170 (y'know... a plane that was made for it)

Reminds me of a group of flying missionaries that passed through Tonopah Nevada several times a year. Heading for, or returning from, training in the Idaho back country. They flew older 206's and 180's. One time they came through with a brand new 206 that a Cessna dealer allowed them to try out. After taking it into the back country and putting it through it's paces, they decided to return it. Thanks, but no thanks! They explained that it was pretty. It was really comfortable. But could not hold a candle to their older 206's when it came right down to performance. If and when 2673J sells I will be looking for a 1972-1980 182 for the conversion. The plan is to find a clean plane with a decent 0-470 and fly the 230HP version.
I appreciate all the kind words on the plane. It flys truly amazing, Shelby knows how to rig an airplane!
Sorry about not being able to stop on the way up Mark. We where in Hollister for a total about 30mins.
Currently I have the pleasure to fly a T182T with a G1000, I got my cloud card in it about 2 months ago. They fly great and are a real pleasure, just the fuel bill stings a little. | | |
