There's more than one error in that ad, there's no such thing as a 1965 150F, but then that is a common misconception. It has a slant tail, so it's a 150F all right, but all 150F's are 1966 models.

The price is good though. 150HP, long range tanks, heavy duty nose gear, and STOL kit. Paint looks good, not much of value in the panel, but it's OK. $29,500, better than average deal.

Yes, it is possible to have a 1965 Cessna 150F. True, the F model is considered a 1966 for parts purposes, however the FAA recognizes and records the date of the A/W certification. A check with the FAA Civil Aircraft Registry reveals that N1114T (the referenced aircraft in the Barnstormers ad) is serial number 15061846 and that this airframe received it?s A/W Certificate on 8/20/65.

I discovered this anomaly when my 150F was newly purchased. Interior parts were being ordered and the descriptions were just not matching up. Incidentally, my 150F is serial number 15061899 with a 9/4/65 ?birthday.? My 150 is 53 serial numbers and about 2 weeks after the 150/15X that is listed for sale. Wow, they were really cranking them out back then!

Hi John,
This has been gone over in the past and I think it was decided
that just like the auto makers make next years models this year.
That seems to be what Cessna did.
My 1980 model 152 came off the line in August of 79.
So even though your plane was built in 65 it is a 66 model to
Cessna and every one BUT the FAA.
1966 F model has SN#15061533 thru 15064532
Yours (SN 15061899) would have been the 366th F model produced out of the 3000 total.
