I recently installed Hookers in my '82 152. I've been thinking of listing the original belts on eBay, but I thought I'd list them here first. They're blue, a bit faded, and have their p/n tag attached. No rips or tears. There is some wear on the edges (mostly on the adjustable sides of the lap belts). If you wear the shoulder harnesses loosely, they sometimes detach from the lap belts. The hardware is all in decent shape. I would have happily used the original belts, but I received the Hookers as a gift. PM me if you'd like to make an offer or if you can suggest a price that to shoot for on eBay.

I'll attach pictures soon.

I wonder if you washed them in the washing machine with blue RIT dye if they would look like brand new??

I don't think my washer would like all the hardware banging around.

That's right, Bob. As a paramedic, I wash the stretcher straps on a regular basis. If they're blood soaked, I soak them first in peroxide, then in tide, and then to the washing machine...and then the dryer.

They clang so loud that we had to move the dryer out to the supply shed. Not to mention, nearly all the enamel coating on the dryer drum is gone.

Gary,

Could you put an old, thick sock/rubber band over the buckles, as you wash them? It won't change their mass, as they hit the walls. It would be more out muffling the victim as its being pounded to death.

Roger,

I like the part about muffling the victim as he's being pounded to death!

As far as the seatbelts go, I suppose scrubbing them by hand in a bucket of tide would clean them. My wife has this nifty rack that fits inside our dryer for tennis shoes... You could lay the belts out on that rack and they would dry with no noise at all. Worse case, hang them in the hangar or in your home until they're dry.

Personally, on the ambulance, I really didn't care about the noise, as we threw the straps in the machine, grabbed a replacement set, and headed off either to post or to the next holding call...
