It was part of my current annual this year.

Given it's got 1100 hours on the engine, pretty crappy paint, and it's located a long way from me...the '59 in the US is way better.
I got the FAA CD in the mail the other day - some interesting things:
- 1962 incident - firewall & engine mounts - 1963 repair - crack repair in fuselage skin to left front of stabilzer fitting - 1966 repair plate riveted to ruder spar to repair crack developed between 2 rivets at rear of rudder hinge attachment - Sold in 1986 for $2500 - Aircraft picked up by the airport manager at auction in 1993 for $2900 - Current owner purchsed in 1993 for $10,000 - New Imron paint, new engine, new radio...and now it's selling for $22 The rudder and tailcone repairs are the result of "normal" problems experienced by almost all 150's of this vintage. There are Cessna Service Letters and Kits or parts to repair or strengthen both of these areas. Charles | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 5,465 Likes: 22 Member/5000+posts! | Member/5000+posts! Agreed Matthew. I called some of the folks that were listed as previous ownwers on the FAA CD. One chap called me back (retired maintenace engineer for Pan Am & others) to tell me he loved the airplane when he had it in the mid 70's...and he was curious to see what shape it was in. He told me that the auction was as a result of a previous owner (ex. WWII and Korea pilot) passing away. Just goes to show, we're not "owners" of these sturdy little aircraft as much as we are "stewards" of them.

I came across a '62 in Trade-a-plane that Gremlin took the time to go inspect for me (see countless posts for how awesome this club is) in Kentucky. PA Plane ? TTAF 4000 TSMOH 240(May?01) Paint 7+, Interior 4 VFR, No Xponder $22 KY Plane ? TTAF 3150 TSMOH 650 (1988) Paint 6, Interior 8, IFR, Xponder, Wheelpants, Horton STOL, $20 '62 in Trade a Plane [ trade-a-plane.com] Based on Gremlin?s positive review?I now really like BOTH of these aircraft for obviously different reasons. The KY aircraft has a much, much nicer interior, and is much better equipped for less cash?done deal right? Well, I keep coming back to the engine being pretty important to keeping me in the air?and I?ve have much more confidence in a top notch $12,000 O/H done in 2001 with a new crank and cylinders. I don?t think I?d ever fly enough to get my IFR ticket?but having a transponder is something I?d do within a year or two?and resale would likely be higher for an IFR plane ? score one for Kentucky. The interior is nicer in the Kentucky aircraft?but I could always redo the PA interior on my own timeline and per my own taste down the road?as I plan to keep it for a long time ? Hmm?this is tough! I sure am lucky to be able to be in this position to make this decision?so let?s have some fun with it...and a "public" thanks to Gremlin who took the time for me.

It has the highest ceiling and airspeed of any of the other models. Last Monday Lexie and I made a mountain flight from Boulder, CO to Westcliffe, Co. With Lexie, me, my 10# dog Fury (that has to go everywhere) and all my luggage, went down at 11,500', about 10 miles west of Pikes Peak (14,000+) and east of the Sangre Cristos (14,000+) Lexie dropped me off, topped off the tanks and then back to Boulder. A great flight both ways. Last year Lexie and I flew from Boulder, CO to the Outer Banks of NC, First Flight airport, and back. Wonderful flight. We use it as a long cross country airplane as well as a lot of fun local flying.
Congradulation on gettng a 1959. Best 150 every made.
