Well, I pulled the trigger on the 150 I was looking at in AL. The seller flew it over today and I had an A&P look it over with myself and another Cessna owner for about two hours. Pulled the Cowl and poured over the logs. Everything is there, some very minor cosmetic issues and she runs and flys very nice. Took her for a run around the pattern today and It flies like a 150 should!

It has a very basic panel and I know I want to upgrade that some time in the future, but for now Im pretty jazzed about 70G.

Here are some pics the seller sent me. Among the very few things I found wrong (all adjusted at negotiation time) is the door lock assembly is gone. I need to get that fixed fairly quick i think and Im not sure about where to go for the parts. Any ideas would be appreciated.

For those interested in the deal, asking price was 22.5 which I thought was fair. Included is a custom (with N#) cover along with a nice Garmin GPSMap 295. Has a nice bracket on the dash for this.

I got the whole thing for 20K in cash, so no debt with this bird...yet!

At some point in the next year I want to dress up the cockpit a bit with some nicer seats and some custom inserts and new carpet. I'll do this when I decide on a new radio as this one (while it works great) is not quite what I would want.

So...how did I do? It's the third aircraft I seriously looked at in the last 3 months and been looking for about 6. I think overall I got a decent price for a sound airplane.

Thanks again for all the great info here, it helped.

Really nice looking bird. I like the panel too, the radios are a little dated but the plastic and lower panel look great. Congratulations!!!

Anyone got any ideas on the door lock? Should I just get a locksmith out there? Someone here has to have seen this before I'd think.

New locksets are readily available from any Cessna dealer. A locksmith would work just as well, since the cylinder is nothing special, very similar (the same?) as found on filing cabinets, for example.

If you have the remains of the old lock, try taking it to a locksmith and see if he can match it up.

PS - congratulations, it looks like you've bought yourself a nice plane. One bit of advice about this forum:

You can never ask too many questions!

Don't be afraid to post - We all love to give out answers (and if they're correct, so much the better). We all learn more from questions - you get an answer, others who may not post will get their questions asked without trying, and in researching the answer we all learn a little more about our own planes.

Jim,

G'day

I think you can purchase new locks etc from WagAero - they sell a kit, or at least used to anyway, I just can't put my hand on their catalog right now otherwise I would give you the page and part number - sorry

Nice looking aircraft by the way, I love the paint scheme - all the very best to you with your new purchase

Cheers
