DAMN GARY - Now you got me thinking... Mine face forward too I think. .. And I can't even look at them because it's across the bay at the avionics shop getting the IFR Cert done... This is going to bug me all night...
Always something... I think she's been that way since I bought her...
Dave
They call her the halffast airplane. They fly Tigers, 182's ,etc. Don't know what they're missing.
Dave, I wouldn't sweat it. I only brought it up to poke fun at Bengie. Lionel is probably making a Voodoo doll of me now to poke pins into, and Bengie...well, he's pretty creative...I'm scared.

Don't sweat it! I agree that it's not factory correct, but it doesn't seem to hurt a thing! Some will argue that it affects exhaust scavenging (both pro and con) but I have never found any evidence that it makes one iota's difference (the pipes are just too short and fat to matter, I think).
I agree with Gary. Somewhere along the line the mufflers or pipes were likely replaced with PMA'd parts rather than Ce$$na originals. I suspect that the PMA'd parts can have the alignment features missing, or installed 180? out from the original design. Unless both mufflers and pipes were replaced at the same time (and from the same supplier) it's possible that any alignment features would have to be overcome in order to install the pipes correctly like they came from the factory (slant facing forward).
The possible alignment problem would have had to have been missed during PMA certification, but I think that is possible, too!
Good job, Bengie. Okay, I gotta hand it to ya... That is one super nice 150!
Now, for the other nice 150 in Carl's picture... The exhaust stacks are on correctly, but I think there's a short somewhere between the seat and the yoke... All I hear is "Top Gun this" and "Top Gun that." Not really sure where it's coming from, but I gotta agree with Ron. There is something that just isn't right!

Would I buy an airplane on Ebay? Maybe, but I've got to inspect it without having to place a "deposit" first. Most Ebay airplane auctions aren't set up to allow that, nor do they allow enough time to make arrangements. I think some owners intentionally set too high a reserve just to test the market before getting "serious". Most Cessna's on Ebay eventually go for more than what I think they're worth anyway. With the high time engine, I think this one has maxed out, price wise. The 2 bidders might nickel and dime for awhile, but it won't go much higher.
I emailed the seller (1973 cessna 150 on ebay) three days ago with some questions. I received a reply the next day that said he needed my phone number to answer the questions. I emailed back to him my phone number but also stated that I need him the reply to the questions in writing. No reply back since.
I have made some major purchases on ebay in the past (cars, planes, elect equip,) and have found that as long as you make and keep the seller accountable to the transaction that the deal go smoothly. If you get to the item and found that what they said in writing is not true, you walk away. Some times you have to remind they of what they said
