You might try calling Chris Collum at Airworx’s in Alabama. They do have an FAA approved process for reconditioning the slinger ring cracks.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I’m aware of Airworx and their FAA approved process for welding crankshafts. My mechanic is aware as well but is not sold on the process. In his opinion, there needs to be more of a track record of service before he could support it. I hope that Chris’s approved process proves itself over time as we sure need a solution for this shortage of crankshafts.

A pilot ran out of gas and totaled my old plane, J-mo. Something like that would be a perfect find for someone in need of engine parts. The prop was still when a wing hit a roadside pole. Airframe totaled. It would be great if you could find a good running engine. Would have made me feel better if she’d have been a donor.
