Hello Kyle,
I had always thought that the prettiest taildragger i had ever seen, was a 150 swepttail i saw yrs ago. I don,t even remember were it was. but through the yrs of buying and selling a variety of other planes, i decided it was time to find one and make it mine. When i begain my search, i was looking for a specific look(not model).I knew i wanted the rearched gear,(the ones that are,nt look to be squating under a load to me).I wanted it to have the swepttail, and it had to have the 150 HP eng. All the other mods(long range tanks, horton stol, etc)were things i had not even thought about.I started looking through the trade sites and seen this one. When i first contacted the owner he was at 42,000,(he had started at 50,000) and was very firm at that price. After about 2 months of negotiating,we were able to agree at 36,500.(i still can,t belive i paid that for a 150)but about half way thru the negotiations,i discovered a priceless resource of info(150/152 club). The club gave me things to consider about a mod,ed up plane i had,nt even thought about. I found out that you could,nt convert the planes for what you could buy one for.And i realized that if you wanted a "NICE"low time 150/150 TD (not a fixer upper)you would pay 35,000 or well above to get it. With this new found knowledge, i found that the plane i was looking at was even more desireable than before. We agreed on a price,i sent him a nonrefundale dep.and made the arrangements to go get it. when i saw the plane and inspected it , it was just as he had reprsented it to be(very rare, in my experince). We completed the deal, and home i came with my new "old" toy.I,ve flown it now about 20 hrs , and i love it. Is it as fast as some other planes i,ve had,no.But so far it is doing just what i bought it for,Making me "SMILE".
