Yo all!

I was trolling through the Club's classified section, and was really surprised to see that there really are not maany birds for sale. Just a little while ago - say, a week before Clinton - there was a bunch of 'em.

now, i know that the stay on for what is ir - 60 days or so - or until they get sold, aand I know that some listings are a bit dated. But still... there really are not that many for sale! What is it - 1 152, and about 6 or 7 other 150s?

Hmmm... anomaly? Or a tremnd developing here - 150's/152's getting more desireable and folks holdin' on to 'em a bit longer?

I've looked in TAP and ASO and don't see as many of our birds for sale as there were say, 2,3,4 years aago. Is it my imagination?

Any thoughts?

Surely anyone who owns a 150/152 would not want to sell it! I mean do you throw gold bullion in the trash? Do you tell your hollywood actress girlfriend to go jump in a lake? Do you spit into the wind? I don't think so!!!

Everytime I'm gassing up at the pump, I end up in a conversation where the other guy who flies a more gas-hungry plane sez that it would be nice to have a plane like a 152 that doesn't burn 9-10 gallons or more per hour.

I know. I was looking at AOPA's discussion of the new Mooney Acclaim. What a nice looking bird. I thought it would be nice to have that for them little trips to California.

Then I saw the 34 gallons per hour at climb power figure. That's going to take more money than I have to feed that thirsty little bugger. (Never mind the $460,000 price tag that goes with it. )

Yo Pat -

I was mentioning to a few the nearly half-mill price tag on the new Money....er....Monet.....ummmmmmmm....Mooney.

Yeah - it'll getcha there faster than our little birds, but hey - we still have it on the gas run bill.

Still - not many 150's for sale anywhere, and the price seems to be going up a bit. Look at ASO, TAP, aand the Club classifieds. True, it's all open to dickering, vut still.

The sad but true fact is that they don't make our trusted steeds anymore! Everytime we loose one to an accident or freak of nature, the value of those remaining creeps up.

What do you think the few remaining Cessna 150's will be worth decades from now (and how many 1956/57 T-birds do you wish you had kept in a warehouse somewhere)?

BUT... the more wrecked 150/2's out there...

The more parts for the remaining ones!

Here's one for you: http://bearingbeltchain.com/cessna150.htm
(I hope I don't get in trouble for posting this on the forum) .
It should show up on the classifieds soon.

There may not be a ton in the club's classifieds, but there's a whole lot out there on controller, ASO, tradeaplane, etc. $18-19k will buy a pretty 150 with under 900 hrs on the engine.

Oh yeah! Not sayin' here at all that there aren't many for sale, but there are LOT FEWER over the past year or so listed. ASO doesn't have that many, and I've been watching them since 2002-2003 was it? Frequently, there would be over a page of listings. The same with TAP - there's a bunch for sale, but again, not as many as before, or so it seems to me.

Yeah - you still see the few for 15 k and thereabouts, but it seems to me the prices have been creeping up. Again, these are only asking prices, and nobody pays that for the most part, but still...

I might be wrong - it just seems TO ME that prices are up a bit and supply is down.
