Gene, The headliner on this thread you started has always been miss-worded.......it should have been PRICELESS from the get-go........you'll see. Jim As my wife and I were cruising along at 63 knots ground speed yesterday, I asked her if she could do that for 8 hours. She said, "If you want to do it, I will." Not sure I want to punish her that much. She is sweet at times and generally easy to get along with.

You never know when life will throw things at you that will make it impossible for you to do some of the things you would like to. You may decide after flying for 8 hours that it is just too far, but then again, you may be excited about doing it again the following year! Back when we bought Molly, I bummed a ride up to Lacon, Illinois (not far from Clinton) and flew her back to West Memphis. It took a good while, but the time went by pretty fast and the scenery was great! Seeing the St. Louis Arch from 2,500' up in the air was great. I think Regina is planning to fly up from the Jackson, MS, area. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 15,896 Likes: 997 Member/15,000 posts | Member/15,000 posts Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 15,896 Likes: 997 | As my wife and I were cruising along at 63 knots ground speed yesterday, I asked her if she could do that for 8 hours. How often do you see ground speeds that low in the summer? She said, "If you want to do it, I will." Not sure I want to punish her that much. Although, I think if you flew to Clinton with a some other planes it wouldn't matter the ground speed because you both would be having too much fun. I remember how apprehensive Regina was before she made the trip and she had a great time.

Plus you get to see a lot of the country, and meet some really nice people, and there's a lunch stop somewhere in there.
And if you do it, or some of it, in a caravan it's a whole lot of fun.

It's only going to be about 4 1/2 hours for me total flying time, so I'm planning to leave around 9 am, land to fuel the plane and myself, then fly the second leg. Will be my longest cross-country yet but I'm excited just to get in the air and enjoy the scenery.

Shortly after I bought my C150 last year, I flew from South FL to New Orleans. It took me 11 hrs including fuel and food stops. I did it thinking that I would get sick of it really quickly. But , nah. I would do it as often as I can. That's why, over the thanksgiving weekend, I flew 32 hrs and visited 7 states. Can't wait till July to do it again!
