Hey guys, just wondering if anyone is interested in upgrading to a Cessna 172. Such a sad story but a fellow aviator at KMJD (Delmar's home Airport, Picayune MS) has brain cancer. My fantastic A&P Wayne says Jim as $150K or more in the airplane. All upper surfaces have been recently reskinned due to hail, engine may have 200 hours on it. I'm not sure the avionics but Jim spent money on this plane.

If anyone is serious about purchasing, I will find out about the plane and what's in it. Wayne says the air frame is high time with about 7500 hours on it. I guess that is a drawback.

I heard a number on the price today that made me ask if I should be looking at this thing. It wasn't official but $50K was mentioned.

It's a Cessna 172M. Really nice plane. Garmin GTN750 GPS. autopilot, recent new engine, new paint. I'm very sorry for Jim. He put a lot of heart and soul into the plane before this hit him. He used to post a lot in the Cessna 172 Club web site.

I think Alex is looking for a 172. He may be interested.

Sad to hear about Jim. I don't know him, but something like this is very sad.

Hey Gene,

Such a sad story... really sorry to hear it frown . Always rough to hear about a fellow pilot not being able to fly anymore, especially pouring a lot of love into an airplane. Yeah, I'm very interested, I sold my 150 to upgrade to a 172 and that sounds like it has a lot of what I'm looking for with the GPS and autopilot.

Do you have a way to get in touch with him or can take some pictures for me?

I wrote to Jim to see if he's ready to move and if he doesn't mind me posting his contact information. This is a pretty hard time for him.

Thanks gentlemen.

I can definitely understand if he needs some time... don't want to rush him after something like this, especially if he's not ready. There's no rush on my end.

The FBO will call him tomorrow to see how much he wants for the plane. I was told someone came and took pictures of the plane to put in an ad so it is either listed or well on its way.

Thanks for the update Gene. Is the FBO brokering the sale? I'll keep an eye on the usual sites to see if an ad comes up matching the description. Sounds like a really nice airplane that had a lot of love put into it.
