I think its important to do all we can to keep GA alive. I remember when I was a kid going to the municipal airport on the weekends just to watch the airplanes land and a take off and there were always 3 or 4 (mostly 150/152s in the pattern). Now, when I go back home there is rarely any GA aircraft doing training.
I hope to fully rehabilitate my flying skills soon. When I have some pictures, I'll be sure to post! | | | | Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 16 Member | Member Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 16 | Victor, wow, 230 hours in 7 months, sounds like you're having a blast! I think living in Louisiana having a basic IFR panel will be necessary. Unlike flying in southern California where just about every day is VFR after 11AM, and Phoenix where its VFR approximately 360 days a year, here in Louisiana, I'd be grounded half the time without basic IFR airplane.

True! The good thing is that there is a fairly big market for C150/152s. Check controller and ASO. I found mine through controller.

Just bought my 150M back in June of '16. I just got my PPL in January last year, and like Victor, I couldn't see paying $130/hr for a 4-seat Skyhawk when almost all of my flying will be solo, so I started looking. Found a 150 about an hour flight time away. She needed some work, and as a result I have only put 12 hours on her due to some engine repairs, but I will be flying her a LOT more this year, I guarantee it. Plus I got everything needed in the purchase to make her basic IFR, will be doing that in the next year or so after I build some time & confidence (and of course, save up the money for the labor).
I'm registered for Clinton as well, will be my first trip to the Confab. Hope to see you there!

I know we have at least one member in Louisiana, Gene Templet. So you already have a connection!
Good luck in your search for a C-150. There are a lot of them around, but then again, a lot of them are like the one we have sitting at our airport that hasn't flown in a year or more, flat tires and all.
