Before I go through the time and trouble of converting the clock and APU plug fuses to circuit breakers, I wanted to see if anyone here had some spares lying around.

I need a 5-amp fuse and a 1-amp fuse.

I checked Barney's post but he doesn't have any this small.

I bought a box of 5 Littelfuse 4AG 1A fuses from a club member a few years ago. I think they look Like These [ebay.com] . If that's what you need, I can give you one.

I think I have a few of those.

Might be a day or 2 before I can check at the hangar.

Question, is there an issue with using just any fuse that is the correct amperage and voltage? Before I changed over the circuit breakers... the fuses I found in Delmar were shall we say... a diverse group. LOL Mechanically speaking... what would the performance difference be ??

You bet your sweet bippy there is. There is the issue of a physical size difference. The 4AG series fuses are commonly specified in older aircraft. About 30 years ago Buss superseded them to the obsolete AGS series fuse. The barrel diameter of our old fuses is 9/32". Fuses from your local auto parts store are 1/4" diameter. An under sized fuse will lead to a very hot generator or alternator fuse cap due to internal resistance caused by the loose fit of auto type fuses.

Yes,Gene, there is a big difference. wink

Yup, they do, but they sell them in lots of 5.

In my particular instance I don't need that many. If it came to buying McFarlane I'd just as soon apply that money towards buying a circuit breaker. I already have a 5-amp breaker, just need a 1-amp. But I don't want to go through the trouble of installing them right now (they're mounted in the tailcone, wedged between the between battery box and the fuselage skin).

Thanks - mine doesn't look like that. The IPC doesn't specify a Slo-Blo fuse for the clock, so I don't think I should use it.

As it is somebody put in a 1-1/2 amp fuse before me (who checks *that* on a pre-buy?)
