It's actually in the POH. Words to the effect that 'during prolonged spins with half tanks or less, engine stoppage may occur. But this does not adversely affect spin recovery.' What happens is the fuel slugs outboard, uncovering the pickups in the tanks. I think Catherine said it takes about 13 turns before the engine will stop.

In a 152, it tends to be in the 13-16 range. | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 5,193 Likes: 258 Member/5000+posts! | Member/5000+posts! Does "prop windmilling" restart the engine?

Does "prop windmilling" restart the engine? It sure does! The cylinder doesn't know or care if the stater motor is turning the crank, some meat bag pulling on the prop, or the wind rushing past the prop. | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 21,771 Likes: 2272 Member/20,000 posts | Member/20,000 posts Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 21,771 Likes: 2272 | My limit is 1/2 a spin. The engine re-starts when fuel flows to the engine once the spinning has stopped?

The engine re-starts when fuel flows to the engine once the spinning has stopped? Usually. Sometimes the prop stops windmilling since a spin is a relatively low-speed event. Diving after the spin recovery gets the prop spinning again.

On the way to Paraguay, in the southern hemisphere the direction of spins will be opposite my video. | | |
