Cost me $300-ish to get my oil temp gauge fixed up. The nut that screws into the engine mount was messed up and my mechanic wanted me to get er done up right. My temp gauge was reading fine but I reckon I got an overhaul as well. Ha ha. Rudy Aircraft Instruments. I also sent them my tach recently. Not promoting their service just stating where I sent my stuff. These are the people my Mechanic uses.

I put the aftermarket oil temp gauge in a blank spot, and covered the old one with black electrical tape. It doesn't look too bad.

That does look good. My problem is not having an open spot without removing the ADF. I was gonna save that project until I decide if Ill keep it long term.

Decided to check the resistor before pulling the gauge. From what I found online, the specs show this as a 75 OHM resistor, checked mine and it was reading 65 but When I pulled wire off it and removed it from the gauge its reading 85. I cleaned it up good and will probably throw it back in and see what it does. Preferred Airparts has a new one in stock and they said it is metering at 90 OHMs so my guess is its not this.

Gene, different set up in the 152's Lycoming.
The 152's is electronic.

Well looks like I don't need a gauge. I revived an old thread in the Tech forum with the little bits of info and ideas I had along the way if anyone wants details. Not my proudest troubleshooting moment but short story is the gauge was right, ended up being the Vernatherm.

Attached is a copy of Table 1 from the service manual I have on disk.
It shows 46.4 ohms at 220 deg F.
