NO you can do it once for each seat position but at different contest times.

There's not one block of time for just one particular contest, is that right?
Can I do both contests in the same block of time? Also, if I want to be a pilot in the Nerf Drop and then be a bombardier, can I do both of those in the same block of time? The Nerf Drop and Spot Landing contests are done together. Let's say you want to compete as the Pilot at 9AM Thursday. Your plane (with you and your bombardier) gets assigned a position in that group. The planes, in trail, will do Nerf Drop #1, then all come around and do Landing #1 (touch and go). Then go around, do Nerf Drop #2, then come around and do Landing #2 (another touch and go). Then go around, do Nerf Drop #2, then come around and do Landing #3, then Exit The Runway and taxi back to your parking spot. If you want to compete again as a Bombardier, you sign up for a later contest time. You can switch place with your prior bombardier, or fly with another pilot. If you watch THIS VIDEO [ youtube.com] , you'll understand the process. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 9,823 Likes: 929 Member/7500+posts | Member/7500+posts Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 9,823 Likes: 929 | This year we have time for 6 Nerf Drop/Landing contests, 2 on Wednesday, 3 on Thursday, and 1 on Friday morning.
The Scavenger Hunt and Poker Run may be done anytime. We use two of the Scavenger Hunt airports on the Poker Run, so it' a good idea to do both of them together.

We will have the Nerf Drop/Spot Landing Contest each morning and afternoon. The Poker Run and Scavenge Contest at done at your leisure and time frame.
You will need a co-pilot for contest. You will fly while your co-pilot drops the Nerf ball onto the target. They will ride as you make your Spot Landing within GREEN ACRES. They will also help you in the scavenger hunt and poker run.
You can be a Pilot and a co-pilot for someone else. But... But... But.... I've been doing all my Spot Landing practice solo. Putting another body in the aircraft will mess up my feel, float.... And there's not a lot of room in there to begin with.... Geeez...

I always practiced solo. The method I used was to be 500' over the numbers on runway 03 and most people have found that dragging the plane low and slow to "Green Acres" doesn't usually work. It took me 9 years to win that contest. Most successful passes are a stabilized approach. It's also "style and grace". Carrier arrival landings in the zone are scored low. I make the Air Boss explain to the judges what we're looking for, so there's some consistency in scoring. Plus you wince when see the gear flex. My father always is chirping in my ear, "You know we gotta fly this thing home." Now the Nerf Drop! That's pure speculation as to when to drop and wind conditions.
