From what I understand the gear was moved back to keep the plane from sitting on its tail when loading stuff into the back. The gear legs were the only modification - where it attaches to the airplane remained the same.

Almost forgot, David. One the airplanes I looked at last fall might be interesting to you. I passed it up because the TSO on the engine was over 1400 hours, but it's in otherwise fine shape. I know its still being flown regularly and I believe he still wants to sell. Its a very nice 1965 E model and has the heavy-duty nose gear you want. I posted photos on a previous thread:

It's located at K50 in Kansas. If interested let me know and I'll give you the owner's name and number.

I have a friend that just disided to sell his 1964 C-150. It is a straight tail, omni-vision, and manual Johnson bar flaps. GPS and a bunch of other nice stuff.
I will be taking photos and helping him to sell it soon. Very nice airplane.
If interested PM me

The omnivision was introduced in 1965 as I recall. That would be be a 1965 model possibly produced in 1964.

Those are good birds and quite rare!

That's just like my old 150. '64 and '65 were the only two years with the straight-tail and "Omnivision" rear window.
