How true - approaching an intersection one day, I saw another car coming from a side road that I sensed wouldn't stop at the stop sign.

My 20-nothing-year-old brain said "YOU have right-of-way - go ahead!" So I did, and that little old lady proceeded to drive through the stop sign and knock me off the motorcycle.

I learned that day that I had no right-of-way except in a court of law.

My wife was driving our car on the freeway one day. A big truck came barreling up the on-ramp. I told her to move to the left lane to give him room. She argued "But I have the right-of-way. He's supposed to yield". I replied "Yes, you're right, but you might be dead right".

I saw pictures of the aftermath at Newmont's big open pit in Nevada, when a 400 ton haul truck blew a stop sign and ran over a 5 ton service truck that didn't yield to the larger vehicle. Not pretty. I always gave them a wide berth when in the pit area.

"Right of way" isn't always "right"

BTW - major hijack! and that's one great looking bike.

The larger the vehicle, the more 'right of weight' they have...

Motorcycles are rarely on the winning side of that equation, then add the fact that the operator is on the vehicles exterior, as opposed to being in the interior, as riding in a car...

Motorcycles are wonderful machines, when you ride and you get riding fever, there's nothing like it. Those that have been there know what I'm talking about. It's just you and the road. Nothing else matters, you and the bike become one and you don't want the ride to end.

Whether you're on a Gold Wing, a Windjammer, Electra Glide, Softail, crotch rocket....you have 2 wheels in the wind and there you go. How many times do you see a motorcycle parked in front of a psychiatrist office...
