What's the deal with these lower door windows? Custom or factory option?

I'd say custom.

The Cessna 150 “Patroller” was introduced in 1960, and was an optional model until 1963.

The Patroller was a standard 150 with the following options:

--acrylic glass windows on the lower doors
(listed as "translucent doors" in '60, and "transparent doors" in '61, '62, and '63)

--38 gallon long range fuel tanks
(35 gallons usable)

--a message chute for dropping packages to the ground
("liaison communications" according to the '63 sales brochure).

Although "patrolling" is mentioned in the '66 brochure, the Patroller model and Partoller options are not mentioned after 1963.

Those look custom. The "Patroller" windows I have seen are wedge shaped to match the door construction.

Like this D model:

That one is in Puerto Rico, so I don't think there's much left inside.

A Patroller description and photo of the door from the '61 sales brochure is attached.

I actually have the original Cessna drawings for the patroller doors on the 120/140's and early 150's. The early "wedge" doors. I am going to convert an extra set of doors that I have and see if I can get them approved. Wish me luck!
