PS - Supplied cable will be too long - it is generic to all piston Cessnas. When cutting the sleeve shorter to size - draw the internal cable all the way up into the cabin to avoid nicking it. Once the sleeve is sized and cleaned up - you can push the cable all the way home and then size that.
That is not true.
The throttle control is a threaded shaft swaged onto a cable inside a sheath, and there is a rod end for attaching to the arm on the throttle shaft of the carb with a bolt and castellated nut and cotter key. You do not "trim" to length, they are built specific for application.
The rod end is removed to allow you to "poke" the cable through the firewall.
The simple wire control for the carb heat and mixture can be trimmed if you purchase a "generic" replacement.
