That is not true.
The throttle control is a threaded shaft swaged onto a cable inside a sheath, and there is a rod end for attaching to the arm on the throttle shaft of the carb with a bolt and castellated nut and cotter key. You do not "trim" to length, they are built specific for application.
The rod end is removed to allow you to "poke" the cable through the firewall.

The simple wire control for the carb heat and mixture can be trimmed if you purchase a "generic" replacement.

Thanks for the reference, guys. Wilbur's new throttle cable totally rocks! I'll order from McFarlane again -- they were prompt and the quality seems terrific.
