I had the same reaction when I received my insurance quote. I had zero hours in type, newly minted pilot. I remembered how years ago I wanted to buy a new Ford Mustang and the insurance would've run $5000/year. So it was with some trepidation that I asked about insurance for an airplane. I was pleasantly shocked at the price. smile

When I first saw the airplane I bought, I felt like I was preflighting it as I looked it over instead of using a discriminating eye that I should have. I hired a co-worker who is an IA to pre-buy insp the plane as it was being annualed and told him that I want him to find some reasons not to buy it. Being we both work for airlines flying to Wisconsin and back in the same day was cheap and easy.
That 1st time seeing 52U, on my way home I scored a 1st class seat on 1 of our DC9s, it was a great day filled with classic airplanes.

When I got my plane 10 years ago, I had a Commercial licence, with around 500 hours. It was parked outside, on the grass, and insured for a little less than $20K. Insurance ran about $500.

Now I'm an ATP, I fly 747s for a living. I've got a couple thousand hours and the airplane is in a hangar. It's insured for a little over $20K for around ................... $500.

The Cessna 150 was designed for student pilots. It's easy to fly, and relatively inexpensive. If you put a brand new Private Pilot in a Bonanza the cost will be thru the roof and will decrease with experience and ratings. The 150, not so much.

Just a quick note about Randy's plane to everyone. And again thanks for everyone's input and eagerness to help us find a 150.

Randy was very quick to supply all requested photos and any/all
information about his 150. I would probably be no good at rating any aircraft at this point in time, but I have to say that from
what I have been told by others, and the high quality photos
that were taken, that this airplane is exactly as Randy has
described it and have confidence in what he is telling you.

I would be very interested in buying this myself, but after
adding up the additional costs of me flying to Oregon to view it,
then to get it home etc it just doesn't quite fit the finances for me despite all the great offers here to assist me in getting it home. And I do very much appreciate those offers to help.

To put it simply, personally think Randy's plane would make a good purchase.
