Rick, While waiting in anticipation for the arrival of my lamp I have been giving some thought to the lampshade issue. I'm thinking along the lines of some kind of aluminum slats - like window blinds turned through 90 degrees to give a "propeller" effect. I've also seen - but can't yet source - a shade made of old VFR sectionals - though that is a bit too obvious. Low IFR sectionals might throw a little more light and not be so obvious. | | | | Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 2,326 Member/1500+posts | Member/1500+posts Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 2,326 | Maybe one could get a blank shade, and cover it with a collage of various aviation publications. Such as sectionals, enroute charts, ap/f directories, NOTAMs printed on paper, TAF/METARs the same way, SIDs/STARs/approach plates, checklists, etc...

En-route IFR charts (high or low altitude) sound cool as they are white paper, blue and black print, with a smattering of green and brown. Problem is they're printed on both sides, and the inside page (flip side) will show through. I don't think it'll work unless I'm missing something. Still, a cool idea! ![[Linked Image from animatedimages.org]](https://www.animatedimages.org/data/media/218/animated-penguin-image-0137.gif) [ animatedimages.org] Imagine a united world. Ed, just do a colour photocopy of the side of the chart you want, that way it will be white on the backside - then wrap the copy around the shade..

I'm hoping I can pick them up in person. I can't wait to see them! Oh boy oh boy oh boy!

Agree - I really like my lamp. I've had a number of folks comment favorably on it.
I found a small shade on Ebay - has airplanes on it. It's a little small, but will do until something better comes up.
It's in my office and being used every day.
