This is awful - I just took a picture with the lamp and the XB-70 model Al White gave me...and I thought I'd provide the photo with this message-but there's no button/click/something for attaching a photo. So much for user friendly.
I'm hoping someone will send me the magic b.s. needed to attach a photo.
Here's hoping I can post a photo as you requested.
A little warning about decorative lamp shades. . .
My wife made one years ago by sandwiching autumn leaves between translucent layers. Looked beautiful. They've faded now to near-invisibility, and the fading accelerated dramatically when we began using a compact fluorescent bulb in the lamp. These bulbs put out a fair amount of ultraviolet light which really speeds fading due to the high energy of UV light. White LEDs don't typically put out much UV light, but usually have a big spectral spike in the blue region. Although not as energetic as UV, its presence might cause an LED bulb to cause more fading than incandescent.
So I'd recommend using an incandescent bulb in any lamp having a colorful or decorative shade.
I spent a chunk of the afternoon in the custom lamp shop next to KEWB - New Bedford a couple of weeks ago. They let me go through their shelves and catalogs and in the end we had to special order what I wanted. Apparently no one wants paper anymore (I was going to do the stick the sectional thing on it). So paper was special order - but at no more cost - just had to wait for it.
The shade came in and I think gives the cylinder lamp the scale and gravitas it deserves. After consideration - I'm not going to stick a sectional on it - it is a little to clichéd. So here it is - aglow on the corner of my office desk.
A little late to bump this thread, but, what a great gift idea. As of right now, it would be after the 1st of the year before I could get anything out.
