Oh man...I just took my headliner out last month...be careful...because of that foam/adhesive in the trays, lack of experience, old plastic, and the cold mine ended up crumbling like a bag of potato chips...that glue in there is strong after 30 years...good luck

After removing the head liner to install a second comm antenna, I found a pleasant surprise in that the nut plates were already installed. We back drilled some pilot holes from inside, and then drilled the correct size from outside. Total time 30 min.

Outside shot of antenna install. GPS antenna goes on tomorrow. Nothing fancy, but three month of planning for a IFR panel and finishing the interior in coming together in the next two weeks.

You got lucky. I had to make a doubler/nut-plate assembly and rivet it to the roof when I installed antennae on my plane (see attached).

Lucky indeed for me. Clean install on your aircraft.

Jim,

Nice looking job so far, I have to say that the Cessna range look much better with the double antenna's on the roof, I have two as well, however both antenna's are metal, not the nice fiberglass ones like yours - oh well

Cheers
