Seems to me if I am going to buy a non-certified air box it would come from Aircraft Spruce for $150-ish.
They offered to put a "kit" (McFarlane) in the existing airbox to make it better than new, but I still need them to give me an estimate on repairing the damage to the air box housing, which is the fundamental problem.

Anyway, I did take a picture of the defective air box and Acorn Welding said they could repair and install a kit for ~$450.
But I decided to pick up that one on eBay for $250 ($300 shipped to Canada).
