This old bird needs some work and is in the shop right now. One of the things identified is a cmall crack on the air box, where the internal flapper hits the housing. The AME thinks they might be able to repair it, but I would like to find a replacement.
I have been all over the interweb and it's like finding hens teeth. I had a line on one on ebay but before I could get it it was sold. A couple of sites may have something, but they want the actual Cessna part number.
I got an online (pdf) parts manual, but the airbox is not listed in there. In fact the only illustration that shows the air box has it "grayed out" and it appears for reference only. Odd.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? A good one for sale or at least a part number?
Thanks very much in advance! I look forward to tapping this resource and contributing where i can in the future!
Eric

I'm an AME on the East Coast and I know exactly what your talking about for the airbox, I actually had a sticky note with that p/n on it and threw it out this morning.. Geezzzz dumb luck. I will check my office later tonight, but before I can get that done, I'm sure someone will chime in with it.
Good places to find what your looking for are barnstormers and ebay, I have had great luck personally with that. I check them every other day. Something usually pops up.
Oh Yeah
And let me be the first to say...
HEY LOOK A NEW GUY.... lol
In the words of a good friend of mine.. "Gravity works...I've tested it often"

Welcome to the Best place to be on the internet! I am sure you will like it here.
As far as a replacement air box, well I would just go a head and let the mechanic fix the one you have.
I think an approved replacement is quite a bit of $$$.
Notice the one that Graeme linked to at Spruce has a notice at the bottom of the page:
For Cont. 0-200 engine as used on Cessna 150. Also fits Cessna 120, 140, and PA-22 Tripacer. Order filter, gaskets, studs & pins separately. Not FAA/PMA Approved.

I did see that one at AircraftSpruce (it is the first thing that pops up in a search) but saw it is not certified. The price is right but I don't think it is right to install it. Bruce since you are from Canada can you shed any light on the rules around this?
My mechanic thought a replacement is in the neighborhood of $1200!! Hence the search for a good used one.

Just a suggestion that you may want to check on who actually manufactures this part. There are numerous parts out there made by the same manufacturer with the only difference being one will come with a very expensive extra piece of paper or decal. It's a personal decision on what you feel comfortable with. For me, for most things, it bugs the crap out of me that something that's good enough for an RV is not good enough for my 150.
Just my opinion.
