Dumd thought and maybe things are different in the US then Canada. In Canada you record Air time and flight time in the journey log. Air time is used to govern all required service work and stuff like that. Air time is transfered into all tech logs. When I imported my 150 last year, the difference was 50 hours between air time and flight time with 350 hours SMOH. So, in Canada, rather then have 350 hours SMOH, this 150 would've had 300 hours SMOH. This is the way it works here in Canada,, are the rules different in the US, can someone advise on this, I think many people record times incorrectly. Thanks

I could use some definitions here.

I believe each aircraft has a journey log, not unlike a pilots logbook. Where you went, how long it took to get there, and any notes on the flight.

Thanks...and the original thread (remember that) was "Preferred year".
I guess everyone has their favorite. I trained in a 1981 and just got my PP in December, so I'm partial to 1981.

In the history, it appears that 1983 has all of the valued changes.
1983 - Model 152/A152
Serial Numbers 15285595 thru 15285833, A1521015 thru A1521025
1. Engine changed to Lycoming O-235-N2C, 108 HP
2. Avionics Cooling Fan Improved
3. Vacuum warning light standard
4. Gyro instrument installation redesigned to allow removal of gyro instruments from the front of the panel
Base Price - $34,000 Average price as Delivered - $39,450
"Aerobat" Base - $36,750 Average as Delivered - $42,200

1984- Model 152/A152
Serial Numbers 15285834 thru 15285939, A1521026 thru A1521027
1. Landing and taxi light returned to wing
2. Aileron hinge changed at 15285916/A1521028
Base Price - $36,400 Average price as Delivered - $41 ,935
"Aerobat" Base - $39,350 Average as Delivered - $46,720

1985 - Model 152/A152
Serial Numbers 15285940 thru 152X6033, A1521028 thru A1521049
No Significant Changes
Base Price - $40,900 Average price as Delivered - $45,345
"Aerobat" Base - $43,850 Average as Delivered - $48,295

Some folks like the earlier engine.
Anything I should be carefull of?

I think the landing lights in the wing on the 84 and 85 models is a plus, as they have less vibration and last longer, it seems. But there were fewer made, they get higher prices (newer model) and they don't fly any better, faster, or are any less fun than the first 152! No preference!

Oh, yeah! There were a lot more O-235-L2C's installed in 152's than the N2C's, so there may be a small difference in parts availability, but not much, I'd imagine!

Just a point of interest, as I understood in my conversation with Air Mods, (Sparrow Hawk Conversion Folks) the O-235-N2C, 108 HP in the later models is not approve for the 125 hp STC. Something about the through bolts in the cases not being large enough or not as many. Something to consider if you are going in that direction.

Hanger empty for now

Thanks! I'll add that to the list!

Both great points!
There is an '85 available in Beaver Falls PA for $25k.

Wish I lived in Pittsburgh (Nah, not really)

I could use some definitions here.

Flight time, time from start up to shut down.

Air time,, time from wheels get off ground until they return to the ground.

All tech logs including journey log use airtime.
