I dont like the Paint job.

My panel is nicer than that one.

I question the sanity of spending that much to 'restore" the plane.

I doubt quite frankly he will sell it for much more than HALF what he is asking. Presently the market wont bear it.

It is very interesting to see what 100G's will do though! wink That's several overhauls, a bunch of paint jobs, and a whole smackload of gas you could burn!!!

S/he spent that kind of money, logged only 3 hours since, and now wants to sell at a loss of at least $35,000?

That kind of wastefullness is just vulgar, no matter how much money you've got to burn!

Now, if it had been a TRUE restoration, back to 1968 showroom condition with original paint scheme and panel (i.e. a time capsule museum piece), it might be worth $65K (to somebody, somewhere, also with money to burn)!

Wow! That's impressive to see.

It looks like it's at Harford County Airport... from the pix outside. That's just across the pond from me. I may have to get a look at a $65k Cessna 150. whistle

I bet the mechanics and company employees on the receiving end of that $35k aren't complaining.

I don't particularly have a problem with profligate purchases if it's employing people. Building a McMansion employs a lot of laborers, both in construction and maintenance. Not that I like McMansions. But at least there are people making a living off of them.

On the other hand, buying artwork for $120 million just shuffles money from one rich pocket to another.

A lot of us put plenty of AMU's into our little aeroplanes, but I don't believe we ever expect to get most of it back.

I bought my Cessna 150 because I couldn't afford a Bonanza. Turns out, I could have bought that Bonanza. I've put a lot of money into my Cessna 150. Repairs, Replacements, Upgrades, but in the end, it's still a twenty-something $ Cessna 150.

A hundred grand??? Oh, sorry, WELL OVER a hundred grand?????
Where the heck did s/he spend a hundred grand?

Ten for the motor, maybe twelve, ten for the paint, let's say two for the interior, that's $25,000, and you've got the big three covered. Where's the other 75+?

The dollars are in the details, Mark. whistle

The guy in the picture doing hand stensile on the prop, and rest of plane, gets $100/hour. He was stensiling for six months, apparently.

True! Most of us do take pleasure in "customizing" our steeds, and can rationalize the added expense as the price we pay for what we want (or think we want). I might be so "vulgar" as anyone else if I had such disposable income as this owner.

Still, must the "cost" of being so affluent necessarilly include the loss of common sense? I don't know this person... perhaps it's their personal mid-life crisis that has now passed. I guess we are all entitled to at least one!

And by buying right, providing proper maintenance, and prudent spending some of us intend to realistically get back at least as as much out of our lil airplanes as we paid for them. Barring unforeseen catastrophic circumstances. smirk
