Let me get this straight. It is the responsiblity of the buyer to "find" an airplane FOR you. The buyer may also not be a "first time buyer," and must "comfortable in maintaining their own aircraft."

Doesn't sound to me like you're really all that motivated to sell.

We're just not going to sell our airplane until we have a suitable replacement. You make that sound like it's a bad thing? wink

Not a bad thing. Whatever floats your boat. I was just a bit surprised at the pre-qualifications placed on a potential buyer. Typically, money on the table is all that is needed to purchase something. Best of luck in your endeavor.

Sounds like a wise course of action to me. It would drive me crazy (OK, so that's more like a short putt) to be without an airplane. Of course, it may happen if my employment situation doesn't settle down soon.

I really like the looks of the Wag-Aero Wag-a-Bond Traveler. It has a good useful load, can be built as an LSA, a reputation as a solid airplane, and a nice big baggage area. It is, however, a taildragger. On tricycle gear it would look as ugly as the Tri-Pacer. I have a set of plans, but I suspect that would leave me a few bucks short on a trade. smile

Folks owning other 150/150's will understand my reluctance to sell it just to anybody. Especially to somebody that is planning on an "over the counter" A&P maintain it.

LOL. I was just about to put money down on a Tripacer when Mr. Ed was presented to me. (Mark, with both of our airplanes, it was the owner that came to us.) My only reluctance to the Tripacer was the short wing. Now, I think the Tripacer with a full span Cub wing would make one excellent airplane....................

OK, so another possibility would be the Dave Blanton route (with an O-320 instead of the Ford V-6). The plans for his airplane include extensions to the Tri-Pacer wing. I don't know if his plans would work as a tri-gear. Though he starts with a Tri-Pacer fuselage, he lengthens it. That would really mess up the CG in relationship to the main gear. It couldn't qualify as LSA either.

I have plans for that one, too. But since I acquired them for free, that still leaves me about $30,000 short. smile

I've flown the short wing Pipers, including a Pacer (owner did the take-off and landing), Tri-Pacer, and a Colt. Still haven't flown a Cub, but it's on my bucket list. Although I prefer all metal airplanes, I think I agree that a short-wing Piper with Cub wings would make a heckuva airplane. BUT, there is a group of Cub owners that prefer clipped wings on their Cubs. Each to their own, I guess.

Gary and others have expressed my feelings about aviation. Although I haven't done much of it lately, flying is more important to me than anything besides family! I would probably be a much happier person if I had developed a passion for collecting paper clips instead, as the cost of flying is what has grounded me for so long now, and is at times quite depressing. I am commited that I will NOT finish my projects until I can afford to do everything properly (do it right, do it once). There are other needs ahead of my passion. However, like Bill, I am confident that all good things will come in due time. The plan is in already in place and being executed as we speak, but can't come to fruition for another 2 1/2 years of working. THEN I can truly retire and have the needed income to provide for both family AND our passions.
