Just curious...what was your reason for sending the photos to VW when your car is over 10 yrs old, with over 230,000 miles and out of warranty?

The rod obviously had a defect. The answer is always no until you ask, Hung! wink

Im sure it will break, but I will be replacing it at 300,000 miles, and will ask the new owner to keep me posted smile

Yes, the car sounds like a real lemon, must be a defective rod.

That's amazing Bill. VW must have re-done their service policies. That certainly is NOT my experience with them when helping out mechanically challenged friends who had failures during the warranty period.

I shy away from water-cooled, gasoline powered VWs. I ended up sinking more than the purchase price into a 5-year-old Golf to keeping it running over a 2 year period. Lunk of crap.

I still want a TDI...
