Jim,
I am not ignoring you;) I just hadn't been back to this thread for a while.

As you most likely know the AirCam is twin, using two Rotax engines. It has pretty good thrust. The airplane has a huge wing; I don't regret not flying it in high winds. It gets off after a very short run; The tail comes up quickly and very shortly thereafter the plane will fly off of the runway.

It would be unkind to call the AirCam's flight slow and plodding; I prefer stately.

G'Day Wayne,
I've probably got well in excess of 10hrs in the back seat of my mates amphibious AirCam. It's been fitted with a front screen for the rear seat & just recently with side screens so it's really comfortable even on a cold day (below 20 degrees C) but as long as you're properly rugged up it's a lot of fun, especially on the water, especially if you're happy to fly around at 60-65kts.

Gee,

Those snow videos in Montebello were pretty good too!!!!!

Its an ugly land plane, but on floats, it has a real interesting appeal cool

DJ,

I know that Aircam - it used to be on the field here at Wedderburn for a number of years...Did a lot of the Imax Theatre filming around the place as I understand it

I was wondering where it went too - though when I last saw it, I am sure it didn't have floats

Cheers

G'Day Matt,
You're dead right there, it was built as a camera platform & flown from the back seat when filming was taking place. It's been designed so that the instrument panel can be moved from front to back fairly easily. My mate Bill Morgan bought it after seeing one at Oshkosh & deciding he really needed one & picked it up from Wedderburn then bought the amphibious floats & had them fitted.

Yeah, there are some options and paint jobs that can spruce them up nicely, tinted windows etc. Makes for a nice looking little (and I do mean little) amphibian. Do a google photo search and you'll see some nice looking ones. Think when I get the aforementioned camp, I'd get one instead of jet-skis. More Me! smirk cool
