Bill,

There were a couple of military versions of the Cub that carried a stretcher, much of the rear fuselage opened up. Don't recall the "L" number, but they would qualify as an LSA and just might have the baggage area you need and probably fit your budget.

Best regards,
Rick

Very true, Rick. I have thought seriously about a number of these "L" type aircraft. But am shying away from taildraggers. Not to start any arguments, but flying a tail dragger takes added knack. I believe that I just do not fly enough any more to acquire and keep that knack at a proficient level. In addition, if i am going to take the plunge and go this route. Then I am also seeking the freedoms that go with flying Experimental.

Bill,

I actually got my tail wheel sign off in just a few hours flying a Piper L-4 Grasshopper. Some of the most fun I've ever had in an airplane. cubs are a hoot! But if I could do it, you'd have no problem. Pretty forgiving as far as tail wheel planes go. but they fetch quite a price for the amount of airplane you get and you are still talking about a certified bird, not an Experimental.

Those Zenith air 750s are very popular and don't seem to cost a lot on the used market. There was one at my home base that the owner bought and took his Sport Pilot training in. Nice performing little bird so long as your in no hurry to get where you're going. The published 100 MPH MAX Cruise is a little optimistic. I have to keep an eye on that guy when he is in the pattern, even my 150 will over take him quite rapidly.

The 701 makes for quite a little private off airport/bush plane.

In any case LSA seems pretty cool. I like the Zenith too.

I am looking at the REMOS GX, the wings fold and they fly really nice. The ones who fly most like a 150-152 are the Tecnam. I have flown the Tecnam, CTLS and Remos. My fav is the Remos so far. I can be off the ground in a Remos in about 270 feet and up and out at around 600ft a min, doors off and buring 3gl and hour.

Q on the Remos; can you fold/unfold the wings by yourself to go fly?

Bill,

If you like the Zenith, want to hall some weight, and your heart is not completely set on LSA check out the 801 Zenith 801 [youtube.com]

Now, I know you wouldn't easily part with your doggy. So maybe instead of actually putting a crate back there, you could put up some sort of cargo netting to not allow access to the front seats?

Maybe Kyle's on to something here Bill...have you found something you like with enough space for Cheyenne sans kennel?
