As I approach my 90th birthday, I think it is time to give up flying & sell my 1965 150E. Besides, it is becoming more and more difficult to squirm into the seat. My main problem now is determining a fair price for my flitting machine of some 36 years. I've attached a photo of the plane & the new instrument panel. It is IFR equipped. The 1990 paint job is still good but the cockpit needs work (new headliner, rugs, plastic refinishing). Here is a list of features:
Total time 3385 hours Engine: 635 hours since remanufactured by Continental Long range tanks: 40 gal total Heavy -duty nosewheel Shoulder harnesses Narco Nav-Com Mark 12D with glide slope Narco Navigation Indicator & DME IDME 891 Terra Communication Transceiver TX720 Terra Navigation Receiver with glide slope TN200 Terra Navigation Indicator TRINAV RST Marker Beacon Receiver RST-521 King Transponder KT-76A Transcal Altitude Encoder D120-P2-T Narco ADF 141 Narco ADF Indicator 101 Heavy duty Alternator, 60 Amp, 12 volt Electric starter switch (replaces original manual pull ) Strobe Light-Tail Whelen SA,CF New updated instrument panel & gyros Fuses replaced with circuit breakers
A local pilot offered $14,000 but that seems rather low to me. I would appreciate somebody giving me a ball-park figure so I can negotiate with some knowledge of a reasonable price. It is located in upstate NY.
I don't know Bill, you might want to hang onto it and fly awhile longer. Mine came from a guy who was 94 and still flying. Good luck with whatever you wish to do.
Obviously I am not a local, but looking at whats on Barnstormers, and taking into consiideration equipment and engine life to run etc, I would not think $18K or, even a little more, wouldn't be unreasonable.
Again, it comes down to the "looker" and what "they really want", I'm sure there's various people here who, when polled, will tell you anywhere between both $14k and $18K is a fair price - all that said, an onsite inspection can change the views, either way,of every looker
I would not think $18K or, even a little more, wouldn't be unreasonable.
Translation: you think it's unreasonable.
Hmm..I think I may have double negatived or something....but you know what I meant
I meant to say, $18K or there abouts possibly sounds quite reasonable too, as well, also!!!!....yeah, thats what I was trying to say
Psst: Hey Hung, you know when I first wrote that, I put "Would" be unreasonable, and I changed it to Wouldn't cause I though it sounded more correct...but now, I'm just not sure what the right grammer is
For reference, AOPA's Vref Aircraft Valuation service puts an average 1965 Cessna 150E at $13,400. This particular planes is worth more due to low airframe and engine times and values at $17,205.69 (an not a penny less ). The condition of the interior can have a significant effect. If it needs a new interior they subtract $3,000 from the price.
I don't know how accurate Vref is, but it is used by many to figure out a starting point for negotiating.
I'd say start out at 20K negotiable, then allow the potential buyer to talk you down to somewhere not below around 16-17K. I think that's a fair price for this bird, even if the interior needs a bit of work.
You'll be happy and you never know when someone desperate wants to separate from their cash for just this particular model for full asking price.
Also, be patient. it might take a while in this economy.
