Here's the latest.

The replacement elevator has been received and is in getting painted. (The left elevator had a very small dent and the present owner did not like it.)

The replacement yokes with buit in PTT's are being installed.

The spinner has been sent away for repairs. (Crack)

Some minor avionics work needs to be completed.

Then the annual can be completed.

Complete the financing details, (Unless by a stroke of luck 72G sells first!)

And then she will be ready for Gary to pick up.

That's great news, Bill. I'm ready. Now, I just have to get Clyde from Gerry Nolan (I caught up with him) and make the trip. Robbie is tutoring me on the how to's of vertical stab camera mounting. I'm planning on a good trip with lot's of scenic stuff. The Statue of Liberty, then to the Golden Gate Bridge, then back to the Florida Keys, then to the Big Bend area of Texas...Whew, I might not ever make it to Oregon.

Who knows.

It's looking like this trip really will fall right into perfect timing with my shop and other job possibilities.

Ought to be a pretty time of year. Besides, I plan to fly to the lowest point in the US. Any takers where that is? I'll fly through Monument Valley and get plenty of pictures of the buttes. Gosh, I'm pumped.

I'll post the actual planned route and see if there are any club members along the way at any of the planned fuel stops. You know, put me up, give me a car, take me to the movies, buy me dinner so Bill won't have to foot ALL of the bill... .

When it gets closer, perhaps this trip should have its own thread under Big Adventures. We'll see.

Later,

Gary Shreve

I'm pretty sure it's Death Valley, I remember that from my long distance truck driving days.

OK ED, you are making me feel guilty here!

Since you did go and look at 9ED for me................and even though you have already ridden in 9ED, (I am jealous!)................would you like to ferry 9ED to Arlington so Gary won't have to go and get it?

Monument Valley in UT AND Furnace Creek in Death Valley? My! You are taking the scenic route after all! lol I can arrange a bed in Tonopah Nevada since it looks like you will be in the neighborhood. Just remember those fuel stops in this area are mighty few and very far in between. (Yep! I used to live down there! Hee! Hee! ) I am looking forward to seeing those pictures from the tail for sure!

Ya know! I am just thinking out loud here now. If somebody would buy 72G within the next few weeks. I wonder if maybe you could talk Gary into picking her up while he is here, and then delivering it to your location? Maybe we can get Gary to all 50 states yet! Just in different airplanes! ;-)
