I have seen this one and they want almost as much as a new Skycatcher. It is low time but the engine is still 31 years old and will probably face an overhaul and new radios soon.

Add the cost of an engine overhaul and new radios and you might as well buy a skycatcher. smile

I tend to agree here. That is a LOT of age on a plane which basically HAS NOT FLOWN AT ALL.

These birds do not like to sit. Even if its been in a controlled environment there are things like upholstery cushions, carpet, engine accessories etc which do not do well just SITTING.

Anything rubber, plastic, or cloth will probably need to be looked at. Can you say Flat spotted tires?

I cringe thinking about this type of stuff. Our aircraft need to be flown, taken care of, and things REPLACED when they need to be.

I wouldn't pay more than 15 Grand for that thing as I KNOW its going to need an overhaul, and a bunch of other things repaired once I start really flying it.

Airplanes are not meant to be "collected" unless your running a museum.

Our 150/152 planes can wear out not only from abuse, but from non-use too. I would want to have a boroscope look into the cylinders and I bet there is excessive corrosion in them. Now if it was stored in the "mothball" type mode with oil filling the pistons and dry air circulating around the plane, maybe it won't be too bad. $75,000 is a lot of money. I don't think you could keep that value in it. my 2cents

I'll celebrate its 30th birthday for a better reason....NO MORE PROPERTY TAX ON IT. In Kansas, an aircraft 30 yrs or older is considered antique, and you'll only have to pay a $50 fee per year. The annual property tax on aircraft is approximately 5% of book value, about $1000/yr on a $20K aircraft. mad

Man that is a big time reason to own an older plane. I can't believe that a state who manufactures GA planes could get a law like this passed.

Tim, is it really OK to have small numbers everywhere? I'd have to check now, but I think in some areas the large numbers are starting to be required.

Anyone up on these rules? My plane has large numbers and always will, but the smaller number do look a lot better on MANY of the restored beauties I've seen at Clinton. MM

Wow. In Oklahoma I paid a one time $630 excise tax and $40 a year registration. I think next year it goes down to like $15 since mine will be 30 years old.
