You know, the one person that we have with us that should really be concerned about this AD has not spoken up.

Catherine? Whatcha think? Does your airplane have this rudder mod installed?

After reading all the threads on this issue I now have to ask how far out should the rudder stop bolts be from the tail? Can the rudder hit the elevator if the stops are not set correctly?
Can a 150 have too much rudder?

I just completed the Placard install and installed the kit on the tail. Before the kit was installed the stops were tight against the tail and had been since it was painted in 1985. We broke the paint installing the kit. No way could it hang up, but now I have suspenders as well as the belt. Value went up two-fold.

A friend had to comply with an AD on a 1947 cub in 2003.

Dale's airplane was already in compliance with the "intent" of this AD by being placarded "Intentional spins prohibited."

Proper rudder travel, both left and right, is specified in the Type Certificate Data Sheet as (for 150F models) 23° measured parallel to chord. For all models after that, it is specified as 23° +0° -2° "measured perpendicularly to hinge line", which is the same as measuring parallel to the chord.

The instructions for this kit call for you to check and adjust the rudder deflection and set the stop bolts, referring to the service manual.

The attached illustration is from the maintenance manual for the 1977 150M, the illustration in the 1969 thru 1976 models is identical. It tells you one method to determine correct rudder travel.
