Jim,
You mean the best price?
NOBODY is going to develop a kit for this other than Cessna. Cessna is the manufacturer, they did the engineering, issued the Service Bulletin BEFORE it was an AD, made the kit- which in my opinion is now considered factory parts, AND the Cessna kit and SB is in the AD, so you HAVE to use what it calls for otherwise use a AMOC. Since the Cessna kit is under $100, I really don't see a rush to make kits by another party. So, either buy a kit from Cessna, or install the placard and leave it at that. I'm amazed that the FAA allowed owners to slap a sticker on the panel and promise not to do spins. Sticker or not- it'll still spin!!!

I am looking at that gap behind that now larger bolt head. If those rudder horns are as flexible as Charles describes. and if they ever jumped into that slot behind the bolt........... That's scary!!!

"Thanks Hung. I am now even less inclined to install the kit."

I kinda agree, I looked at mine, back in 07, and have watched it ever since. My opinion, (I know, the AD matters, my opinion dosn't) if the 150 has been maintained, not had its tail beat against the pavment, or otherwise mistreated, the rudder stop has been on it around 40 years, there is nothing wrong with it.
Think I will be installing placard, for a while.

If any one knows of an actual problem, let me know.

I think the mechanic had to cut the right stop bolt short, because at full-length he couldn't get it inside the horn to start the thread. Apparently there was enough room on the left side.

Even at shortened length, there's enough of the bolt inside the locknut to keep it secured. Plus, the nutplate that the bolt is threaded through is enough to keep it from going anywhere.

I never use the rudder anyway...just open a door and force it into the airstream, seems to work fine for me. So I'll just placard the airplane.

Kinda like the auto gas STC. One minute your plane cannot burn auto fuel. Pay $150, get a piece of magic paper and PRESTO! Your airplane magically transforms int one that can use auto fuel!

Ain't it simply amazing?

:/Piece of mind; (not that I have much, but I would like to keep what I have intact.) Is the reason I replaced the rudder stop under the SB. I worked with my A&P and got it done in under an hour. Now it is done and out of my thoughts.
If you do this, I recommend that you remove the old rudder stop on the horns first and place the new rudder stop on the horns last. It gives you more room to work on the other parts.

The AD not carried out in and of itself - no. But the lack of compliance with an AD would make me dig deeper in the books and the aircraft. I would bet that non-compliance with a simple AD such as this one may well lead to other "interesting" things.

I agree.
