Have a look at this & tell me that a really good 150 for $45K is overpriced.

I recently sold my scratch built Zenair CH701 for a little under AUS$40K & bought my 150D for AUS$15K which leaves a fair margin for upgrades. It's all relative & I'd like to know whether the 0.016" specials will still be here 50 years later??? confused wink

What I've got is also way under the price of a second hand Jabiru.

Mine has 14,000 plus...over ten thousand of that as a 150/150 Taildragger flying pipeline.

Is it a lot of hours, yes. Enough to cause me to lose faith in the airframe? No!

nobody wants to spend money now, they are looking for ways to beat down the price.

Sometimes I hate to think about how much I've sunk over the years into my C-150H - original purchase price $15K.

Last summer, I spent around $35K putting in a brand new engine, propeller, and a bunch of other things firewall forward. Maybe that was a bit of overkill, but I do like having a new engine, and thus far, I have avoided some of the horrors that others I know have experienced from less-than-perfect field overhauls.

My C-150H still looks like an old plane, though, and I still have a long way to go to get it like new, the way I'd like it.

However, like you point out, the bigger and more powerful the plane, the more the cost goes up, exponentially, to maintain it.

$45K for N2673J seems like a great price, and you get a turn-key airplane. I defy others (including the blowhards on the other forum) to find a nicer plane for the money, LSAs included.

==>> Looks like I'm "stepping away" from aviation after all. Bye, folks!

Mark, Like a few of the others, I have seen Jeff's plane and flown with him on trips a few times...you are 100% correct - it's worth every cent!

If I was advising someone purchasing a 150 right now, I would try to steer him toward this aircraft. It's complete inside and out - looks and flies great. Like you, I have put at least that much into mine and it is not nearly as complete or updated as this one!

I've mentioned this before, but we have a 150 (really early model) down here with in excess of 22,000 on it, and still going strong - got a tailwheel conversion and 180hp engine too.
