They do a get a little crazy on the price sometimes. I shopped around about a year and finally found one that hadn't been recovered, was in great shape and very complete. It had the belt, the brackets, and even the bolts to mount it. I didn't realize it before I got it, but you can flip the base up and the top back rest will hold it in place allowing you to regain a large portion of the floor space back. Mine also has some quick disconnect pins on the bottom of the seat base.

I can see that going the new route has the obvious advantage of avoiding the runaround for the missing parts. It is a lot of money but I see it can be worth it if it gives me the option of using Wilbur for both my children.

Thanks guys!

Mike,

Would it be possible for you to post some more pictures of your child seat. I have never seen one in person, and would like to see the different view angles. The Cessna pictures I have seen, seem to depict a lot more room than I believe is actually there.

I'm 6'4" and keep that seat all the way back. I may not need a step to check fuel, but I need every inch of room inside. smile

Hi Wayne - I will take some pictures and post them. Something I have been meaning to do since I had it put in.

We had the aftermarket version in Putt Putt. Seat Belt was the full real deal - no shoulder harness and none available. As long as you didn't get out of weight/CG it's all legit.

Now, go do the W&B and price the seat (installation was a breeze).

The price was bad enough - the W&B ended up with us getting the Cherokee.

And Catherine - I am not at all certain what if any restrictions on operating Wilbur in intentional spins would be. I looked in the paperwork I had and didn't see anything specific.

Edit: Duh, I see the questions were answered. That'll teach me to post before I finish reading. We had the Aviation Fabricators eat and there is an IMPORTANT point to make - the STC is valid for the serial number of the aircraft it is installed in, and transferring it required sending the seat to Aviation Fabricators for "inspection" and that was priced at $600. Simple math - you buy it for your aircraft and that's it.

100 lbs or less. It is roomier than it looks. My 9 year old fits back their and he is about 85 lbs. He is around 4'9" tall.
