Hey, I juts had to ask the owner if there was any issues,, here's his response,,

I'm not aware of any corrosion. Please call Paul at the number in the auction. He has the plane in Florida - I'm in Indiana.

I asked the same question of the prior owner (they had it at their school in WI and then FL)and their A&P/IA. They said the same thing. That's why I spent the money (commercial flight, hotel, etc.) for my A&P and I to fly to FL and look at the plane. I won't say anyone is not being honest/truthful. I will only reiterate that I have not seen that much corrosion in a flying aircraft. Perhaps they look at things differently in FL. I did subsequently buy an Aerobat, and am very happy with the plane. I had that seller take nice, bright pictures inside all the inspection covers prior to flying to inspect that plane. It paid off.

Perhaps they look at things differently in FL? No, not really! We like nice clean corrosion free planes as well as the next guy, and contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of them here! After all, we have more private airparks than anywhere else in the country, and I think the highest airplane per capita, with the possible exception of Alaska!

I can be had cheap, anybody wants one looked at in northeast Florida.

The airplane has been relisted on eBay. The seller has a rather lame excuse about being spooked by buyers who were not "qualified" to fly the airplane. This time it's a "No Reserve, Final Sale." I'll bet if it doesn't go beyond $40K he pulls it again.

I should add that this airplane looks pretty good to me, and I would inspect it in person if I was in the market. However, I find myself being annoyed by the seller without even meeting him.

Some folks just come across as being "difficult" and this guy seems to be one of those. In any case, someone needs to show him how to use paragraph breaks, and keep his description to the relevent details about the actual airplane. Who cares how much he paid to ferry it to the East Coast and back? That just makes him seem like an impulsive poor planner. The way he has listed, delisted, and relisted this airplane seems to confirm that.

You didn't hear Wayne Westerman complaining about how much it cost to fly a plane to the east coast and back when the "buyer" reneged.

Some people have class, some very clearly do not. I'm proud to call Wayne my friend.

Carl, I certainly did not and do not mean to offend anyone. The basis for my comment was, upon inspecting the airplane with their A&P/IA present and challenging him on his twice telling me over the phone (before my trip) that the plane was corrosion free, he stated "they all got a little dust down here in Florida". He has been an A&P/IA for over 30 years in the Miami area, and tried to tell me that they overlook surface corrosion or many planes would need skin/surface repalacements. I would expect that a very high percentage of the aircraft in FL and CA and other coastal areas are corrosion free, and was surprised at his statement. I would also expect that many were corrosion protected before corrosion set in. The C150 Aerobat I looked at (N2766J) was already very pregnant, not a little, and the corrosion treatment at that point did not make her a Virgin. Too bad it hadn't been treated earlier. So I stand by my statement about that aircraft, and you will understand why we in the relatively dry Midwest and Plains states are a little suspicious of salt air aircraft, especially when we are told they all have some dust.

I might give the guy the benefit of the doubt, as one who has sold on eBay or craigslist, I had to deal with the fruitcakes, nutjobs and flakes who seem to want nothing more than to waste your time with no real intention of buying your vehicle. Add to it the scams you get, Nigerian bankers offering you $3000 over the sales price for shipping, and want you send them the difference back only to discover they paid with a counterfeit cashiers check, and so on...lookie-loos who want to test drive, then insult you with a fraction of the value as their offer as it they're doing YOU a favor to take it off your hands as they nit pick every little detail, and so on, and so on and so on...
I once had a "young adult" with cash in hand get pissed off at me as I refused to sell a car to him as he wasn't 18! I said come back with your parents! He never did.
This seller already had people back out on him after the auction ended. How can you win an auction then think you can walk away?
Unless the plane was fraudulently listed, you should go through with your purchase.
