Thanks Hung

Looks like "fastback" has returned. Lovely panel. I wonder if they'll use the 0-200 or rotax. In my view US$109,000 is a bit steep to compete with the tecnams, jabirus etc. But with quite a lot of competition on the market prices might adjust downwards. Remember in the past Cessna dropped their 150 prices quite a lot. Best to hold off for a while and hope. Cheers

If you click on "specs" you will see they list only the 0-200. The weight is higher than some of the other LSA offerings. But, perhaps the Cessna weight is more realistic than others.

Hey all,

Never mind the seats, it looks like those pistol grip will fit our birds, un-rivet the current ones and slip in the new ones, press to talk, "Fire Button" life's good grin grin......not bad, not bad at all!!!!!

Although.....there is not much panel room left for all those fancy add on accessories, fuel flow, G meter, etc etc, mind you with everything else contained within the two screens, I don't suppose there is much left to add......Hhhmmmmm didn't see any VG's, and nothing about at 150-180hp up grade or taildragger conversion - have they not noticed anything over the last 30 years grin

Cheers

Okay gang, maybe it's time to open our minds and reconsider things?

How about: The Cessna 150-152-162 Club

After all.....she is a sibling, coming from the same parents. They left the wings where they belong which proves we came from the same gene pool. Can you imagine any resentment when the 150 became the 152 or when the straight tail changed to the slant tail? There should be none for the 162, she's just different. Unless they are identical twins, all siblings are different in some regard.

If the 162 is put to good use in flight schools it's just a matter of a few short years before individuals like us will be buying them from the flight schools for personal ownership.

A simple look at history will suffice if you're a non believer.

My personal belief is there is no downside to this. This is all positive and our sister will fit right in with us...this is her rightful home. She's not a bastard nor even a stepchild, she's simply a new sibling.

It's a known fact that the population pool of our beloved 150-152's shrinks every WEEK for one reason or another and no new ones are replacing this shrinking pool. This alone should be a red flag.

Personally, I find this very refreshing. For Cessna to throw it's full support and weight behind this effort is a good sign.

Okay, I'm an easy target now so let the dart throwing begin, all I ask is that you don't poision the tip.

Your thoughts????

Jim (and all)

G'day,

I'm with you, ok she's a little different, but hey...... she is still related and its all good...right!! smile smile she certianly doesn't fall into the "Big Sister" category like the 172..... (sorry Greg didn't mean to call your plane a - big girl grin grin )

Cheers

I really don't like the purple color they chose.

She has a family resemblance, that's for sure. And she does look more refined than the proof of concept plane did. Personnaly, I prefer the red and gold they used on the proof of concept plane, but I think this is to get peoples attention.

Things I noticed, she is set up for day and night VFR. Cessna seems to be targetting this towards the Private Pilots as well as the sport pilots (who can't fly at night). Her weight is about the same as the Legend and Sport Cubs. Another US made airvcraft the AMD/Zenith Zodic starts at $79,900, but if you start to gussy it up the price keeps rising.

Plus, the Skycathcher looks GOOD. She's got simple and elegant lines. She looks modern, yet retains the traits of her older sisters. Cessna is supposedly using a different contruction technique, learned it from Van, and that is one way they hoped to keep costs down. And it is 44 inches wide inside. I don't think it will climb like a 150/150, but 850 fpm at sea level is still respectable.
