If all else fails and you end up going the new route, you might want to consider the Garmin 760 which is the big brother to the 660.
I've had both and the 760 (which replaced the 796) has been a very good unit and the 660 was, too.
The price of admission is higher but the screen is larger and it'll do some things that the 660 can't.
You can visit the Garmin website and compare the two, if you haven't already done so.

Thanks Jim! Much appreciated! You know, I was looking at the 760, and you're right it has some nice features over the 660. My main concern with it was fitment in the cockpit. I'd like to mount it if possible, but in vertical orientation I think it's going to take up too much room. I really like the horizontal orientation, but I'd need to attach it to some other kind of mount like you have I suppose. Would definitely be nicer to have the bigger screen though.
