Hi,
A friend and myself both have the Oem long range tanks.
I bought a 65 patroller that was damaged badly ina wind storm but from the wing attachments to the strut attachment was good.
It also had a heavy duty nose wheel.
He found one tank in a salvage yard and the other he found in England and had it shipped to Calf.
He also bought a ground looped 68 with del air long range wings with Horton STOL Kit installed and vg’s and monarch flush fillers.
So he decided to sell the del air wings and will list them on barnstormers for 6000 for both.
Just a heads up..
Now the Oem tanks are hard to find but you have to know you need the wing stubs if you go that route. Flap bellcrank brackets are 1”+ larger to rivet it the moved rib. The box support for the removed ribs has inside supports built in and are also hard to find.
Also the trailing edge wing flap area there is a wing flap reb that has to be moved the 1+ to line up to the tank area outside moved rib.
I have had the tank covers drawn up and laser cut out of 2024T3 .040 as per Cessna blueprints if anyone needs them cut let me know.
Bottom line is the oem tanks cannot be put into standard wings without the oem internal wing parts.. without a boatload of problems.
If you need more info pm me with a phone number.
To bad del air isn’t selling any stc’s since his welder passed from what I have heard.
Hope this gives a better picture of what is involved.
Mike
