All the aircraft information can be ordered on a
CD from the FAA [
aircraft.faa.gov]. If the current FAA registry doesn't show him as the owner, they may have never recorded the sale.
If they never filed a registration under his name, he will probably need to fill out a new Bill of Sale and register that with the FAA. Maybe a title company can help fix the problem.
