Attached is a picture of poor 2222J taken the day I first soloed! On my second solo downwind leg in N73400 (C172) at K9G5 it began to rain. Great, I already was a bit behind the plane but I made an acceptable landing and it was decided that the solo should end!
10 minutes later we got a frantic call from KIAG where 2222J lives that damaging winds (tornado?) had swept through the airport. the 310 parked in front of 22J broke moorings and rolled backwards, the right tip tank puncturing Juliette's windshield, amongst other obvious damage. The squall line, that had not been reported in our briefing earlier, was headed our way. The sky turned black and we hitched a ride to another pilot's home nearby and waited out the storm after securing all of the aircraft on the field as best we could.
